The Great East Japan Earthquake Commemoration Concert

The Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations and the Japan Foundation presented the Great East Japan Earthquake Commemoration Concert in the General Assembly Hall on 5 March 2012 at 7:00 pm. It was Global Solidarity for People Affected by Disasters and conflicts. The theme was: Overcoming the Disaster: Gratitude from japan to the World. Here is the program: Prayer: Wakamizu Kagura Prayer - Ondekoza and Musicians Taiko - Ondekoza: Kagura is an ancient traditional Japanese art form composed of music and dance. Wakumizu Kagura is performed by a regional farming comunity in Iwate prefecture in the Tohoku region in the northeastern part of japan. Finale - Ondekoza dn Musicians: One of Japan's most prominent taiko groups, ondekaza, was formed in 1969 in Sado, Niigata prefecture. Ondekoza is widely recognized as one of groups to have elevated taiko to a performance art.
